When it comes to building and maintaining the infrastructure of Central Florida, the members of Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local Union 295 are always on the front lines. Representing highly skilled professionals in the plumbing, pipefitting, and HVACR industries, Local 295 ensures that commercial and industrial projects across the region meet the highest standards of safety and craft. This month, however, the focus shifted from protecting the community’s infrastructure to protecting the health of the members and their families at their annual corporate health fair in Orlando.
An Annual Tradition of Visionary Leadership
Corporate Health Fairs™ is proud to have been working with Local Union 295 since 2022. What began as a single health event has flourished into a deeply valued annual tradition. Year after year, the membership and their families express immense appreciation for the union leadership’s vision. By bringing a comprehensive, elite-tier wellness experience directly to the members, leadership continues to prove that their workforce is their most valuable asset.
Cutting-Edge Medical Testing & Clinical Excellence
Because union members perform physically demanding work, providing access to top-tier preventative medical resources is crucial. This year’s fair stood out by offering highly advanced clinical testing options that are rarely accessible in standard workplace setups:
- Health Gauge Screenings: Members received comprehensive cardiovascular check-ups, including lipid panels, glucose testing, EKG analyses, and state-of-the-art cardiovascular ultrasounds to monitor heart health.
- GRAIL Early Cancer Detection: In a dedicated private room, the groundbreaking Galleri multi-cancer early detection test was made available to the membership, screening for over 50 types of cancer from a single blood draw.
- Preventative & Specialty Care: Water’s Edge Dermatology conducted skin cancer evaluations, while P3 Medical set up an on-site vaccination station offering critical boosters, including Shingrix, Tdap, Pneumonia, and RSV.
A True Family-Centered Experience
True to the spirit of union camaraderie, the event was designed for the entire family. While members consulted with benefits administrators like Retiree First and pharmacy benefit managers like Drexi RX, families enjoyed a vibrant, high-energy festival atmosphere. Industry leaders like Stanley Black & Decker (DeWalt) provided vital safety and PPE overviews, while Vogelzang Law offered important occupational health resources.
To keep the energy high across the 5-hour event, attendees enjoyed professional chair massages, custom art from caricature artists, and custom face painting for the kids. A row of local favorite food trucks—including T & R Burgers (Grub Shack), Smoke in the City BBQ, and the Cool Yeti shaved ice truck—provided delicious meals and treats for all.
